"A Car is Born" is the second segment of the eighth episode of the second season of Hamster & Gretel, and the seventy-fourth episode overall. It is paired with "The Silence of the Tchotchkes" and premiered on Disney Channel on October 5, 2024.[2] This episode has been released early on September 18, 2024 on Disney+.
Kevin wants to trade in the minivan for a better, sleeker car. Meanwhile, Hamster and Gretel face against a car-human fusion who steals various car parts so he'd be loved by his car-obsessed father.
Plot[]
Dissatisfied with continually having to take the minivan to the shop due to numerous supervillain-related incidents, Kevin decides that he must trade the minivan in. Going with Dave to an auto mall, Kevin has his heart set on a sports car, but must convince the auto mall owner Sam Slickman that the minivan is worth buying from him. Meanwhile, Hamster and Gretel learn that Carl, a man who merged himself with a car in an attempt to win his father's affection, is going around town stealing car parts. The heroes have a difficult time taking Carl down due to his ability to transform into any vehicle he desires.
Carl's final target is the minivan, as it has a vintage antenna he wishes to have. A chase scene leads Kevin through the streets of the city while Hamster and Gretel are incapacitated due to landing in a syrup museum. Realizing that the minivan provides him with protection, Kevin leads Carl through a car wash, defeating him. Kevin then decides to keep the minivan, stating that it has always been there for him and his family.

News report[]
Veronica Hill: Veronica Hill reporting from downtown where a half-man, half-car person is stealing steering wheels, car doors, and other automotive sundries. Will no nobody put the brakes on this vehicular villain? In other news, I need a ride back to the studio. |
Memorable quotes[]
Hamster: Can't the regular police handle this? What do I pay taxes for? Gretel: You don't. Hamster: Oh yeah. |
Hamster: You know, if we had a robust public transportation system, this really wouldn't be an issue. |
Carl: All my life, my dad cared more about classic cars than he did about me. Whether I was good or bad, he never paid attention to me. So I did the only thing I could do. Hamster: Share your feelings with him in a frank discussion and find common ground? Carl: No! Fuse myself with the car. Obviously! |
