"Abuelita's World" is the second segment of the ninth episode of the first season of Hamster & Gretel, and the eighteenth episode overall. It is paired with "The Nightmarionette" and premiered on Disney Channel on October 1, 2022.
Kevin and Gretel's abuelita takes care of the two while Dave and Carolina are at a convention, but Abuelita is a very strict woman, leaving Kevin and Gretel's hands tied when a former mayoral candidate-turned giant baby attacks the city.
Plot
Dave and Carolina leave Hamster, Kevin, and Gretel at home with Abuelita while they visit the North American Superintendent and Handyman Trade Convention for the weekend. However, Abuelita proves to be excessively strict when she forbids Kevin and Gretel from using their cellphones and has them doing chores nonstop. When Fred stops by to ask Kevin and Gretel why they are not answering their phones, Abuelita closes the door on her, telling her that Kevin is not allowed to have girls over; however, she manages to tell them to watch the news. They do this after Kevin puts Abuelita to sleep by feeding her flan, and the three learn that Bob Enfantiberg, a giant baby-turned mayoral campaign loser, is attacking the city. However, their efforts are complicated when Abuelita insists that she go with them downtown.
When the heroes arrive to the scene, Abuelita confronts Enfantiberg for terrorizing the city, only to be picked up by him and carried off to the top of a skyscraper. To avoid harming Abuelita, Gretel―through Kevin's guidance―distracts Enfantiberg by using a giant maraca as a baby rattle, rescues Abuelita, and places Enfantiberg in a makeshift crib. After Gretel and Hamster return in civilian clothes, Abuelita tells Kevin off for letting her go to the bathroom in the middle of the battle unattended when they notice the Action News van that Enfantiberg had thrown into the earlier about to fall on them. The two end up forced to reveal their superhero identities to Abuelita when they save her from being crushed by the van. Abuelita reassures her grandchildren that they did the right thing by breaking her rules for the sake of saving the city and promises to keep their identities a secret from Dave and Carolina.

Veronica Hill: Sources have confirmed that this biologically altered menace is actually former disgraced mayoral candidate Bob Enfantiberg. Enfantiberg had disappeared from the public eye after his last embarrassing double-digit loss. Roll tape. I'll be back taller and younger than― (TV static cuts Enfantiberg off.) Veronica Hill: People close to Enfantiberg are not surprised by his villainous transformation, including his longtime ex-girlfriend who was then a starry-eyed news intern who had her whole life ahead of her. Anyway, yeah. This is a shock to nobody. |
Veronica Hill: Big Baby has continued his tantrum of terror. Big Baby: Vroom vroom! Veronica Hill: Really, Bob? If I were going to take you back―and I'm not saying I am―a lot of things would have to change. A lot! (clears throat) Now back to you at the studio. |
Past Veronica Hill: Bob Enfantiburg loses to the younger, cooler, taller, not balding candidate for the tenth year. |
Veronica Hill: Well, it looks like the nightmare is finally over. But not for me because I will forever carry the weight of the dating choices I have made. Although, he is more sensitive than I remember. No, Veronica. Don't do this again. |

Memorable quotes
Carolina: Mami! Gracias por venir! Abuelita: Of course! Nothing makes me happier than seeing my children and my children's children―other people's children, not so much. |
Fred: Why haven't you guys been picking up your phones? (Abuelita approaches her) Oh, hello there, Abuelita. Abuelita: Hello, Winifred. Kevin is not allowed to have a girl over. Fred: I'm not a girl, I'm a cousin. Abuelita: No exceptions. Fred: You're so much fun. You know what else is fun? Watching the news, like right now because maybe something important is― (Abuelita closes the door on Fred) Abuelita: The other side of your family is very odd. |
Cameraman: Hey, my cheap lunch was in that very expensive van! |
Kevin: Oh, and, uh... Mom and Dad don't know anything about this, so maybe if you just― Abuelita: Say no more. I'm good at keeping secrets. Your mother doesn't know about my life as a go-go dancer before she was born. Kevin: Things we didn't need to know. Gretel: Agreed. |
