"Dr. Eelgood" is the second segment of the sixth episode of the first season of Hamster & Gretel, and the twelfth episode overall. It is paired with "Saturday Homecoming Fever" and premiered on Disney Channel on September 10, 2022.[1]
Gretel has to shadow Dave doing his job as superintendent of an apartment complex, as part of "Bring Your Daughter to Work Day". While Dave has to fix a refrigerator at apartment 4B, Gretel meets its eccentric tenant and his mutant eel.
Plot
During Career Day at school, Gretel and her classmates are given a job shadowing assignment, and much to Gretel's dismay, she must follow Dave to a refrigerator repair job at an apartment complex. Meanwhile, Kevin is excited to volunteer to clean up litter at a beach (as it gives him a chance to be noticed by Hiromi), but quickly learns that it is much more difficult than he expected. When Dave and Gretel arrive, Dr. Eelgood, the tenant of the apartment Dave was called to, plots to use a giant eel he created to exact his revenge on an aquarium he was fired from.
Overhearing Eelgood monologuing, Hamster and Gretel sneak off to investigate, after which, Eelgood orders his creation to attack the heroes. When none of their battle strategies work, Gretel calls Kevin for help, who tells her that eels are vulnerable to colder climates. Gretel then remembers Dave explaining to her how refrigerators cool things down and uses it to freeze the eel. Hamster volunteers to dispose of the now-frozen eel, only to drop it while answering a spam phone call. As Eelgood lements the failure of his plan, Gretel returns home with Dave with a newfound respect for his job. Back at the beach, a sunburned Kevin manages to finish the clean-up job and he proposes to celbrate with a beach party, but his condition prevents him from doing so.

Background information
Trivia
- It is revealed that Bailey's last name is Carter.
- It is revealed that Dave's job is a manager of an apartment complex.

Allusions
- Max Jacobson - The title is a pun on the term "Dr. Feelgood". While this term has been used for many things, one of the earliest uses was as a nickname for Max Jacobson, a physicist who treated late president John F. Kennedy with addictive vitamin shots laced with methamphetamine.
- Star Wars - Dave plays with the flashlight like a lightsaber, accompanied by epic music reminiscent of John Williams' score from this film franchise.
Errors
- Keith Ferguson is additionally being credited for voicing a character named "Jacques" in this episode and "Saturday Homecoming Fever," but no character with that name has been identified yet in either episode. A character named Jacques Cassoulet voiced by Keith Ferguson did eventually show up in "Over the Hill" and was credited as "Jacques" just like in "Saturday Homecoming Fever" and "Dr. Eelgood," meaning that this was most likely the character being credited by mistake.
