"Flake It Till You Make It" is the first segment of the twenty-ninth episode of the first season of Hamster & Gretel, and the fifty-sixth episode overall. It is paired with "Game Changer" and premiered on Disney Channel on December 2, 2023.[2]
Hamster and Gretel go up against The Flake, a villain who is always late for appointments, can turn himself into a cloud of tiny croissant particles, and takes advantage of that to change the times on all timepieces in town.
Plot[]
Gretel returns home to a disappointed Dave, having forgotten about plans they had for breakfast that morning. As they discuss costumes for a father-daughter dance, Kevin and Fred inform her that The Flake, a man who has the ability to turn into flakes thanks to merging with a croissant, is going to tamper with Big Jen, the town's beloved clock tower. However, the villain arrives two hours late, causing Gretel to miss out on shopping for costumes with Dave.
Kevin, Fred, Hamster, and Gretel decide to stake out, only for The Flake to continually arrive late and deface every timepiece in town while simultaneously forcing Gretel to miss out on plans with Dave. Puzzled about how to defeat him, Gretel resolves to use his continual tardiness to her advantage. This then leads to the four ambushing The Flake at a bakery, with Gretel using milk to turn him into a soggy mess. Afterwards, Gretel is able to make time to attend the father-daughter dance.

News report[]
Veronica Hill: A villain known as The Flake threw Downtown into turmoil today when he changed the hands on the city's most trusted timepiece, Big Jen. Will The Flake strike again? Only time will tell. And now, an ad featuring dogs selling car insurance. |
Veronica Hill: Our fair city is facing dark times. Panic is growing, trains aren't flowing, traffic is slowing, and people can't stand not knowing. We go live to Mayor Murray Meyer making a meaningful emergency management message. Mayor Meyer: Due to the public's distrust in all timepieces, I am hereby declaring that a curfew will begin–Wait! How can I declare a curfew when I don't know what time it is? (angrily throws papers in the air and storms off) |

Memorable quotes[]
Gretel: But you know, we have that father-daughter dance tomorrow night. Dave: Do I know? I've been designing costumes for weeks! Dave places a rolled sheet of paper on the table and opens it up. Gretel: Wait, am I a roll of toilet paper in this one? Dave: No, that's a scroll. I'm a senator and you're a bill about to be defeated by special interests. Gretel: Oh, am I a donut here? Dave: No, in that one, you actually are a roll of toilet paper. |
Kevin: The way I was raised is when you tell someone you're gonna attack a clock at 11:00, you attack the clock at 11:00! 11:15 at the latest. The Flake: Everyone wants me to hurry, man! Hey, just for that, I'mma wait a little longer. |
Dave sees an aquatic humanoid creature reading a newspaper. Dave: Wow, great costume! Aquatic Humanoid: Blub, blub, blub. |
Hamster gives Kevin a sweater. Hamster: Here, wear this. It's getting cold. Kevin: Eh, nah, it's okay. I― Hamster: WEAR IT!!! Kevin: Oh, dope. |
The Flake: Aw, man! This is gonna make it really hard to perform surgery. (beat) That's right, I'm also a doctor. Fred: You're not a doctor. The Flake: You don't know everything about me. Fred: I know enough to know you're not a doctor. |
