Hey, guys. I'm Belle, which means "beautiful" in French. I'm exposing Hamster and Gretel for the frauds that they are.

Belle Trollze

"For Whom the Belle Trolls" is the first segment of the fifteenth episode of the first season of Hamster & Gretel, and the twenty-eighth episode overall. It is paired with "An Arthouse Divided" and premiered on Disney Channel on February 11, 2023.[1][2] On February 8, 2023, this episode was released early on Disney+.

A social media influencer named Belle is spreading lies and misinformation about Hamster and Gretel, using edited footage and presenting them as miscreants. With the world turned against them, Hamster and Gretel try their hardest to save their reputation.

Plot

After Hamster and Gretel save the city from a disgruntled baker bent on delivering "divorce cakes," they are confronted with two young girls who accuse them of hating toddlers and being bullies. They soon learn that social media influencer Belle is spreading misinformation about them and editing videos of their heroic deeds to paint them in a negative light. Kevin helps the heroes clear their names while Bailey and Fred attempt to prove Belle's wrongdoings to the police. However, the latter results in the police calling for Hamster and Gretel's arrest for being criminals while allowing a bank robber they attempted to turn in to run rampant. Later when Fred hacks into Belle's blog, she is unable to access the unedited footage because it contains several encrypted passwords for every file that even she doesn't know about, which would take forever to solve unless they have thousands of people. Bailey realizes she knows a club who never believed Belle's videos and begins phoning them for help.

Many bouts of slander later, Hamster and Gretel appear on a talk show with Belle, where the heroes continue their efforts to prove their innocence. Unfortunately, Belle's continual pressure wears them down, eventually escalating to video footage of the attempted arrest. Gretel reluctantly admits to resisting arrest and is told to turn herself and Hamster in. However, Bailey, having gathered a group of Hamster and Gretel fans who never lost faith in them, manages to prove the heroes' innocence by showing the unedited footage of Belle's videos thanks to Fred's hacking skills. Belle is then arrested by the police, being revealed as an unlicensed cosmetologist, and Gretel showers Bailey with gratitude for believing in her.

News report

Veronica Hill: This is Veronica Hill with a special report. Earlier today, superheroes Hamster and Gretel allegedly threw an old lady's groceries on the ground. Here's video.
(A video of Hamster and Gretel picking up the groceries is played in reverse)
Kevin: That video's been reversed!
"Hamster": I hate old ladies!
"Gretel": Me too! Let's take her food because we're horrible and evil!
Bailey: And those aren't their voices!
Belle: Like and subscribe!
Veronica Hill: That disturbing moment was captured by the social media star known as Belle, who recently went viral overnight by exposing Hamster and Gretel as frauds.
Veronica Hill: Well, there you have it. Social media influencer Belle is arrested―surprisingly on completely unrelated charges. Turns out she's an unlicensed cosmetologist. Back to you in studio.

Memorable quotes

Gretel: She's lying! We―I mean, Hamster and Gretel would never do anything like that!
Bailey: I know, right?! I'm so mad, I could explode! (attempts to explode) Okay, it didn't work this time.
Gretel: I can't believe this!
Bailey: It's all lies, lies! I'm gonna explode! (attempts to explode again) I still can't.
Kevin: There's a bank robbery downtown. We gotta go.
Gretel: Aw, I wanted to do another take. That one felt kind of flat.
Kevin: You were perfect. I'm posting it right now. Come on!
(Kevin rushes out the door)
Hamster: How's my hair?
Bailey: (As the cops drop what they're doing to arrest Hamster and Gretel) No, wait! You're not listening! No, it's all fake! They're helping the old ladies! See? It's all in reverse!
Fred: Come on, Bailey. Once they drop their donuts, nothing can be done.
Gretel: Here you go, officer. One bank robber ready for arrest.
Cop: No, we're here for you! (to the robber) You can go.
Robber: Uh, did you want this back?
Cop: What do I look like, a bank? Scram!
(The robber clicks his heels and goes off on his merry way.)
Bailey: Wait, I know what we can do! It's time to call in the cavalry. I'm president of the Hamster and Gretel fan club and none of those guys ever believe any of this malarkey!
Fred: Malarkey?
Bailey: Get over it!
Belle: Tagging public property to make fun of me?! How do you sleep at night?
Hamster: Well, I-I don't; I'm nocturnal.
Gretel: Thank you for believing in me.
Bailey: I'll always believe in you. (they hug) Superhero Gretel is hugging me! I'm so happy, I could explode!
Gretel: Please don't.

Background information

Trivia

TheHamsterAndGretelFans

Brigette lookalike on the far right

  • One of the Hamster and Gretel fans Bailey had drummed up from the Hamster and Gretel fanclub appears to be a brown-skinned, ruddy-haired recolor of Brigette Murphy from Milo Murphy's Law.
  • The bank robber that Gretel caught and was later dismissed by the police appears to look identical to the bank robber that Van Dyke possessed in the past. Strangely enough, this one still has a beard and mustache, whereas previously it was established that it's actually Van Dyke attaching himself to the bank robber, so it's unknown if Van Dyke was possessing him again or not.
  • This episode reveals the existence of many Hamster and Gretel merchandising items, include T-shirts, cereal boxes, stuffed dolls, board game, and even cupcakes.

Allusions

Errors

  • The Disney General Entertainment Content press website has erroneously referred to this episode as "For Whom the Bell Trolls", rather than "For Whom the Belle Trolls".
  • In the scene where Bailey stands up from the couch and states they need to inform the police about Belle's false videos, Gretel's hairband is mistakenly colored blue.
