"Gretel Keeps It Reel" is the first segment of the seventeenth episode of the second season of Hamster & Gretel, and the ninetieth episode overall. It is paired with "Squeaky Friday" and is scheduled to premiere on Disney Channel on March 23, 2025.[2][3]
Gretel and Dave have entered an annual father-daughter fishing tournament, much to Gretel's chagrin. However, when said fishing tournament is being threatened and sabotaged, she has to stay in the tournament in order to keep the other contestants safe.
Plot[]
Dave and Gretel are participating in Lake Walla Walla's annual father-daughter fishing competition, with Dave assuring Gretel that the skill of fishing will "come to her." As the first round of the competition takes place, the father-daughter duo Greg and Cindy Marzik win, only for Greg to be dragged onto the lake by a speedboat. After Hamster rescues him, Greg decides that he will never fish again, effectively disqualifying himself and Cindy from the competition and leaving Dave and Gretel as finalists―despite Gretel only having managed to catch a mere boot.
Suspecting that someone is sabotaging the competition, Kevin insists that Gretel win the final round to allow the culprit to reveal themselves while he and Hamster investigate potential suspects. Despite making an effort to learn fishing tips from Dave, Gretel is still unable to bring herself and Dave to the lead. The saboteur is then revealed to be swan boat salesman Ziggy, who is attempting to put an end to the competition due to years of being unable to participate because he does not have a daughter. Hamster disables the robot he attempts to use to destroy the pier while Gretel, unable to transform due to Dave's presence, uses her fishing rod to rescue the other contestants.

(Cuts to all of the competitors at the fishing competition before cutting back to the fishing dock.) Welcome competitors. The first to make a catch moves on to the finals. (Cuts to a scoreboard before cutting back to Dave and Gretel at the fishing competition.) Ready, fathers and daughters. (Cuts back to the fishing dock.) On your marks, get set, fish.
