"Grounded" is the first segment of the eleventh episode of the first season of Hamster & Gretel, and the twentieth episode overall. It is paired with "Sleepover with the Enemy" and will premiere on Disney Channel on November 12, 2022.[1]
Having too many questions about the aliens and too invested with finding their mysterious U.F.O, Gretel forgets to do the dishes and gets grounded for the weekend. However, when a sentient meat monster formed from a sloppy joe wreaks havoc on the Old Appaloosa campground, she devises a way to get to the meat monster while staying in her room.
Plot
Some time after the events of the previous episode, Kevin and Gretel attempt to figure out the aliens' true motives, when Fred calls to notify them about a UFO sighting. Worried that it is another false alarm, they decide to do chores Dave and Carolina tasked them with. However, Hamster and Gretel decide to sneak out to investigate the UFO sighting, only to find that it is a false alarm. When Gretel returns home, she realizes she neglected to finish her chores and is subsequently grounded by Dave and Carolina. Meanwhile, the aliens give evil powers to a sloppy joe, turning it into a raging meat monster.
Forbidden from leaving her room, Gretel attempts to figure out how to defeat the meat monster. When Kevin shoots down Gretel's plans to fight the monster from her room, Hamster resolves to lift the house and carry it to the monster. Realizing the house is now airborne, Kevin distracts Dave and Carolina by having them wear blindfolds and pretend they are on a guided journey, disguising it as a homework assignment. During the fight, Gretel resorts to calling Fred after being unable to defeat the monster, who suggests that she use heat vision to overcook the meat monster, making it hard and brittle. Gretel complies, preventing the monster from attacking Kevin, Dave, and Carolina. While Kevin and Gretel clean up the mess, however, an unharmed portion of the monster emerges and vows to take over the Tri-State Area, only to be eaten by Churro. Kevin and Gretel then agree abandon UFO sightings and only focus on crimefighting.

Memorable quotes
Kevin: To be fair, all of these alien sightings have turned out to be false alarms. The weather balloons, the drones... Hamster: That oversized pie tin that flew away in the wind. |
Hamster: Kevin was right. The three saddest words in the English language. |
Gretel: Try to fly smooth so we don't attract any attention! Hamster: Yeah, because a smooth flying building is less noticeable. |
Gretel: My arms really are too short for that! Kevin was right. Hamster: Three saddest words. |

Background information
Trivia
- The episodes title is a pun. It refers to the punishment of being forced to stay at home (as Gretel is being grounded by her parents), as well as ground beef and the act of grinding (as the villain is a sentient sloppy joe's, which is ground beef on a bun).
Allusions
The cameo of the farmer and his wife.
- Phineas and Ferb - The farmer and his wife make a small appearance in a cutaway gag after Hamster mentions a large flying pie tin as an example of one false U.F.O. sighting. The farmer and his wife use a new colorscheme similar to that of Phineas and Ferb The Movie: Candace Against the Universe.
- Danny Phantom - Hamster and Gretel (while in her room) fighting a meat themed monster is similar to how Danny Fenton fought a meat themed ghost in the Danny Phantom episode "Mystery Meat", the first episode in the series.
- Nintendo GameCube - Gretel has a purple cube-shaped game console in her room that resembles this Nintendo console.
Errors
- As the aliens give superpowers to the sloppy joe monster, their U.F.O. is briefly shown with the eight circular lights from the decoy U.F.O. from "U.F. UH-OH!"
