"I Think, Therefore I Slam" is the first segment of the seventh episode of the second season of Hamster & Gretel, and the seventy-first episode overall. It is paired with "Thanks, But No Pranks" and premiered on Disney Channel on October 5, 2024.[2] This episode has been released early on September 18, 2024 on Disney+.

Gretel and Bailey try to become cool and hipster-like in order to impress Colleen and her clique of older kids, and sit at their table during recess. At the same time, a lemonade drink mascot wants to get revenge at said cool kids for getting him fired.

Plot[]

While at school making sponge art, Gretel and Bailey are mesmerized by Colleen and her group of older kids. Wishing to be as laid back and cool as them, the girls seek advice from Fred, who simply tells them to "not care," which they take to heart. However, they struggle to maintain their act once they are invited to join the group. Meanwhile, the children's beverage company Slamonade fires their long-serving mascot Slamonade Sam due to his poor reception from focus groups―one of which included Colleen and her friends. Refusing to accept this, Stan engages in a rampage at the school and attacks Colleen and her friends.

With Colleen exposing a more vulnerable and fearful side of herself, Bailey leads the group to safety. At the same time, Gretel attempts to subdue Stan, only for his unbreakable exterior to provide a challenge for her. Seeing their sponge art from earlier inspires Gretel to use the school's surplus of sponges to absorb the liquid inside Stan, leading to his defeat and arrest. Later, with the cool kids' table destroyed during the rampage, Gretel and Bailey allow Colleen and her friends to join them at their table.

Allusions[]

  • Cogito, ergo sum - The title of this episode is a play on the typical English translation of this phrase from René Descartes, "I think, therefore I am".
  • Kool-Aid - Slamonade Stan is a parody of the Kool-Aid Man, the mascot for this fruit punch brand, which appears as an anthropomorphic pitcher full of punch with a simply-drawn face, and would typically burst through walls while shouting "Oh yeah!" in commercials.
