One of Gretel's signature attacks in Hamster & Gretel is a Super Punch,[1] typically used as the finishing blow, that she initially announces with a name using the phrasal template "[noun] PUNCH", with the noun typically being Gretel's target; due to the interchangeable name thanks to its nature of being a phrasal template, this attack did not have an official collective name prior to "Exclamation Strikes Back", and has also been referred to as Gretel's punch or Gretel's attack. The phrase typically being materialized in colorful letters as Gretel shouts the attack's name, and these letters are sometimes being interacted by the characters in Hamster & Gretel before they dematerialize; making this a form of breaking the fourth wall. It's a common occurrence in Hamster & Gretel and is thus regarded as one of the show's running gags.
Sometimes, other characters will use the phrasal template of "[noun] PUNCH" instead of Gretel (these typically come without the phrase materialization). Phrase materialization can also occur on other attacks by Gretel that don't involve punching (e.g. "Eel Tackle" or "Super Slap"), and sometimes, the onomatopoeia of an impact sound could materialize as well. Gretel is also shown to materialize phrases into colorful letters that aren't supposed to be attacks at all (e.g. "Math" or "Best Friend Bailey's Birthday").
The big, colorful letters that appear whenever a phrase is uttered may be inspired by comic books: various comic book series tend to have certain phrases appear as large, bold, colored text — as opposed to leaving it as regular in a speech bubble — to convey someone shouting it loudly. Onomatopoeia in comic books are conveyed in similar ways.
This article lists every single attack of Gretel in Hamster & Gretel so far that makes use of this phrasal template, the colorful letters, or both, as well as other characters alluding to it or references to this kind of punch.

Trivia[]
- While many of Gretel's punches are named after her target, only three of those so far actually use the target's proper name: the Rat Burglar Punch, the Unknownzy Punch, and the Itsy Bitsy Punch (likely due to one being self-evident enough already, the other not being able to be defined simply, and the third being a combination of both); most other punches describe their target in simpler terms rather than their name (e.g. Onion Punch for La Cebolla, or DJ Punch for Record Scratch).
- There have been a couple characters that were the target of two separate punches:
- The Sloppy Joe Monster was targeted for the Sloppy Joe Punch and the Solid Joe Punch, both from "Grounded". However, it was impervious to the Sloppy Joe Punch due to its sludgy, ground beef nature, which was solidified and be able to get hurt by the time it got hit by the Solid Joe Punch.
- Van Dyke got hit by the Half Beard and Mustache Punch in "Close Shave", and the Mustache Punch in "Over the Hill". Incidentally, he had different appearances for each punch (i.e. he lost his beard at the time he got hit with the latter Mustache Punch).
- FistPuncher got hit by the Disco Punch in "Saturday Homecoming Fever", and the Super Sack Smack in "The Great Pillow War" (the latter being along with The Destructress).
- The Imposter got hit by the DJ Punch in "Hamnesia" (although Gretel didn't know it was him at the time), and the Fake Fred Punch in "President Fred" (as Fred). Incidentally, The Imposter was in disguise for each punch: as Record Scratch for the DJ Punch, and as Fred for the Fake Fred Punch.
- Itsy Bitsy was the target of two separate cases of the Itsy Bitsy Punch, both from "No Sprain, No Gain", making her the only person that became the target of the same punch twice. However, Itsy gracefully dodged the attack the first time.
- The Super Slap and the Itsy Bitsy Punch are so far the only attacks referenced more than once. However, the Super Slap wasn't actually used twice, and the first time it was referenced was an accidental usage.
- The Solid Joe Punch and the Mustache Punch may be variations of the Sloppy Joe Punch and the Half Beard and Mustache Punch respectively, especially due to the respective pair's identical targets.
