Hamster & Gretel has a frequent visual running gag in special image scene transitions. These are special transitions from one scene to another, that use a spinning comic book backdrop, a superimposed image that zooms in and out, and an action-themes musical sting playing over it. Commonly, the superimposed image is of Hamster and Gretel themselves, typically having a neutral expression, but often having another expression as well; however, the transitions may regularly use other characters like Kevin or Fred, or even different objects instead. The images used in these scene transitions are typically unique, and only a few of these images have been reused for later episodes. The image used for the transitions have typically been relevent to the scene that precedes it, or sometimes to the scene following it; rarely are they irrelevant to any situation.
These scene transitions are inspired by the scene transitions used in the 1966 Batman television series, which coined these kind of transitions. The transitions that Batman use, also involve a spinning backdrop with a zooming superimposed image (which, in this case, is typically Batman's symbol, found on Batman's suit and on the Bat Signal), and an action-themed musical sting, derived from the series' theme song. The incentive to use transitions inspired by those of Batman likely stems from the fact that Hamster & Gretel is a superhero-based comedy series as well.
This article lists every scene transition that has been used in Hamster & Gretel so far.

Trivia[]
- Milo Murphy's Law, a previous show co-created by Dan Povenmire, also had a scene transition inspired by Batman, added in the episode "The Phineas and Ferb Effect" (a crossover with Phineas and Ferb, another show co-created by Dan Povenmire). The scene transition has an image of Milo, Diogee and Perry the Platypus superimposed to it, and the action sting is the same one that would eventually be used for Hamster & Gretel.
- Out of all Hamster & Gretel episodes so far, "Friday Night Fright" has used the most image scene transitions, showing a total of seven unique transitions.
