The first season of Hamster & Gretel was first announced by Disney Channel on October 12, 2020.[2] The season debuted with the episodes, "Empower Failure" and "Oakey Dokey" on August 12, 2022 after the extended edition of Z-O-M-B-I-E-S 3,[3] then officially premiered on August 13, 2022, in its regular time slot on Saturday mornings.
In the first season, Hamster and Gretel have been bestowed with superpowers by mysterious aliens, while Kevin is skipped over. As Hamster and Gretel are tasked to protect the city from supervillains like Professor Exclamation without getting their covers blown, Kevin aids the two from the sidelines while hoping to get in contact with the mysterious aliens again.
