The second season of Hamster & Gretel was quietly confirmed by Snipple Animation's official Instagram account.[1] It was then officially confirmed by Disney Channel and series creator Dan Povenmire at the 2023 Disney Branded Television TCA Panel, alongside the revival of Phineas and Ferb (for 2 seasons with 20 episodes each).[2][3] The season premiered on Disney Channel & Disney XD on September 14, 2024, and the first eight episodes became available to stream on Disney+ on September 18, 2024.[4][5]
Even prior to its confirmation, plans for a second season were implied to be in the works during interviews at San Diego Comic-Con, a couple weeks before the first season began airing its first episode; when asked about a possible crossover between Hamster & Gretel, Phineas and Ferb, and Milo Murphy's Law, Dan Povenmire stated while he and the crew had it in the back of their minds, they hadn't quite figured out the story for it yet because for Hamster & Gretel, they already had planned a "big, sweeping story that goes through the second season."[6]
The second season continues where the first one left off; Hamster and Gretel have learned from the aliens that gave them superpowers in the first place that another mysterious alien will become a major threat to planet Earth. The pint-sized superheroes will have to hone their superpowers alongside Kevin and their friends and allies, and prepare to take down this extraterrestrial villain before it's too late.
The second season concluded on April 13, 2025. Despite rumors that Season 2 marked the end of the show, Povenmire has stated that Disney Branded Television would be interested in letting him do a third season of the show if viewership on Disney+ is successful enough for one.[7]
