This article is about the villain known as The Flake. For his jingle, see The Flake (jingle). |
The Flake is a villain in the Hamster & Gretel episode "Flake It Till You Make It." The son of a Swiss clockmaker, he merged with a croissant during an industrial accident, granting him the power to turn into croissant particles. He also tends to arrive late at appointments, which makes his supervillain name a pun on both his superpower and his personality.
Physical appearance[]
The Flake is a lanky, young man with a light tan skin complexion, olive green eyes, darkened lips, a hook nose, freckles, and brown hair with dark blonde tips. He is also seen wearing a green beanie, a bright orange shirt over a black shirt, two gold necklaces, a red cape and croissant-like epaulettes.
Personality[]
True to his supervillain name, The Flake is a flake; the man is unreliable when it comes to promised appointments, and appears to be uncaring in that regard as well. This aloofness for time, and his motivation to ruin time for everyone, stem from his childhood, as his father was always busy making clocks and never had time to play with him.
Powers and abilities[]
Due to an industrial accident, The Flake has been merged with a croissant; this allows him to turn into a cloud of croissant flakes at will, which in turn allows him to dodge attacks easily and fly into the air, possibly being carried by the wind.
Due to his ability to turn into flakes, The Flake's weakness, specifically in his flake form, is liquids such as milk. The substance causes the flakes to become soggy and heavy, impairing him from any sort of movement until he's dried up. The sogginess of his flakes also prevent him from turning back into his human form, as his human face is the only thing he can partially morph back to.
The Flake also states that he's a surgical doctor, but Fred finds this claim dubious.
History[]
Background[]
The Flake was born to a Swiss clockmaker and an unknown mother. His father's work left him with no time for his son, causing him to develop a grudge that he would use to deface timepieces around the city.
At one point, he fell victim to an industrial accident that caused him to get merged with a croissant, granting him the ability to turn into a cloud of croissant particles at will.
Season 1[]
In "Flake It Till You Make It", The Flake is first mentioned by Fred and Kevin to Hamster and Gretel; Fred states that The Flake has been boasting on social media that he's unstoppable, promising to deface the Big Jen clock tower at precisely 11 o'clock. Despite the promise, he arrives two hours later with no remorse on his tardiness. He successfully defaces the clock by turning into a cloud of flakes, right as Gretel attempts to punch him, and flying to the tower's dial. The Flake strikes two more times afterwards; learning from his belatedness, Hamster, Gretel, Kevin and Fred go on stakeout, but get bored from all the waiting, as The Flake makes his move while they're distracted.
Hamster, Gretel, Kevin and Fred are beginning to lose hope in defeating The Flake, whose next target is the Tri-State Transmitter, which synchronizes all the digital clocks in the city. Eventually, though, Gretel realizes she is just as much of a flake as The Flake is, and tries to think exactly like him to figure out where he would be at what time. She determines that in 37 minutes, The Flake would arrive at a bakery called The Flakery, suggesting they should stake out there. Gretel is correct, as they successfully ambush The Flake right there. As The Flake attempts to escape by turning into croissant flakes again, he is doused with milk; the milk causes his flakes to become soggy, impairing his movement and defeating him.
