"The Litigator vs. The Luchador" is the first segment of the sixteenth episode of the first season of Hamster & Gretel, and the thirtieth episode overall. It is paired with "Strawberry Fest Forever" and premiered on Disney Channel on February 18, 2023.[1][2]

Carolina's sister, Tía Melissa, is coming to visit, but has to leave suddenly. Carolina finds this suspicious, as she and Dave try to figure out what Melissa is hiding. Meanwhile, El Luchador has escaped prison, and Hamster, Gretel and Kevin try to enter the Professional League of Wrestling Tag Team Championship arena to stop him.

Plot

Carolina has Dave, Kevin, and Gretel cleaning the house in order to make a good impression on her sister, Melissa. However, she cuts her visit short when she claims that she has a lawyer meeting to attend. Dave and Carolina decide to follow her around to figure out what she is up to. Later, Hamster, Kevin, and Gretel learn that El Luchador has escaped from prison and is competing in a wrestling competition in an attempt to win the championship belt. With the help of Fred, a wrestling superfan, Kevin obtains a ticket to the match while Hamster and Gretel get in through the use of a disguise.

Eventually, the children discover that Melissa is also competing in the match as The Litigator and decide to join the fight. Unfortunately, El Luchador disables her when he performs his signature move, the Acute Angle Tackle, leaving it up to Hamster and Gretel to defeat him. Carolina then learns the truth about Melissa's occupation and the siblings reconcile, with Carolina, being a nurse, restoring Melissa's ability to fight. Together, Gretel and Melissa defeat El Luchador and win the championship.

News report

Veronica Hill: Breaking news. Authorities are shocked by the daring escape of masked supervillain, The Luchador. Earlier today, he pulled his signature move, the Acute Angle Tangle, bending the guard's arm into a 42° angle.
Guard: It was my first day!
Veronica Hill: The only clues left behind were flyers for tonight's wrestling championship and a map with many arrows pointing to the wrestling arena. Where could this man possibly be?

Memorable quotes

Kevin: This is so fake.
Hamster: Don't let Fred hear you say that.
Hamster: I can read your mind.
Kevin: Oh yeah? Okay, well, what am I thinking right now?
Hamster: That I can't read your mind.
Kevin: Lucky guess.
Hamster: You'll never know for sure.
Kevin: What's a skobeloff? Uh, is-is it a type of snake or like, a deli meat?
Hamster: Skobeloff is a color―more on the earthy, dark shade of cyan.
(Kevin looks skobeloff up on his phone)
Kevin: That's just teal.
Hamster: You clearly don't work in design.

Background information

Trivia

  • Jessica Darrow plays a wrestler not unlike her previous role as Luisa in Encanto.
  • This is the second episode where Gretel doesn't appear in her superhero suit entirely.

Allusions

  • WWE SmackDown - The stadium, the way the characters act, the belt shown on the news report, and the way the fights are held are all similar to this professional wrestling television program.
  • Phineas and Ferb - While at Fancy Pants, Dave places a fedora he is wearing onto a platypus, a subtle nod to the character Perry the Platypus.
  • Stone Cold Steve Austin - The two announcers at the PLOW championship are named Steve and Austin, and may possibly be a reference to this now retired professional wrestler.

Errors

  • When Melissa is injured with El Luchador's Acute Angle Tangle, her sleeves disappear.
