Yuko Cheerleading Warrior Attack 7

Yuko Cheerleading Warrior Attack 7 (sometimes shortened to Yuko or Yuko Cheerleader 7 by fans) is a fictional anime series in Hamster & Gretel, of which Fred is a huge fan of. It is a type of magical girl anime in which the protagonists consists of a group of seven girls who dress as peppy, color-coded cheerleaders, but are actually super spy warriors that fight monsters. Due to this, it's been referred to as "a sophisticated satire on cheerleading culture", according to a magazine called Anime Weekly. The anime is first brought up in "Cheer Cheer Bang Bang" (which also debuts its theme song), but Fred has a poster of the series hanging in her room, which can be seen as early as in "Oakey Dokey".

History in Hamster & Gretel[]

The series was first brought up in "Cheer Cheer Bang Bang", after Gretel and Fred have consistently failed at making the latter peppy enough to be an undercover cheerleader in order to investigate a series of crimes. When Fred feels defeated and declares she's not peppy at her core, Gretel notices Fred's Yuko-themed water bottle, as they then watch the theme song of Yuko Cheerleading Warrior Attack 7. This gives Gretel the idea that Fred should pretend to be smiling, relating it to the protagonists that pretend to be peppy cheerleaders.

After joining the cheerleaders and Fred attempting to get some information out of them, she is then confronted by Naya and two other cheerleaders. When it initially seems they're suspicious of Fred, it turns out they realized Fred is a fan of Yuko Cheerleading Warrior Attack 7, noticing the Yuko button on her cheerleading uniform; revealing that Naya and the rest of the cheerleaders at Eastside High School are avid fans of Yuko Cheerleading Warrior Attack 7 as well.

After the culprit behind the series of crimes, Coach Haggerty is revealed and apprehended, and Fred's true motives on joining the cheerleaders was revealed, Naya forgives Fred as she just saved the whole school, and offers her to join the cheerleaders for real. Fred refuses, but lets her know they can ask her to join in if they decide to watch Yuko Cheerleading Warrior Attack 7 together.

Yuko Cheerleading Warrior Attack 7 is brought up again in "Neigh, It Ain't So!" Fred decides she and Kevin can watch Yuko Cheerleading Warrior Attack 7 in the minivan while waiting for Gretel and Bailey while making sure she's not breaking their "no fighting" promise. Kevin was initially uninterested and refuses to watch it, but Fred ignores his wishes for the sake of "expanding his pedestrian tastes". As they're watching, Kevin appears to be berating the show and is unable to make any sense out out its lore; neither of which aware that Hamster and Gretel are in trouble when The Neighslayer attacks them. Eventually, though, Kevin realizes how the lore works, and is gradually able to love the anime as the two watch through the entire first season. By the time they're finished, it's already evening, and Gretel was able to fix the issues without breaking any of their stipulations.

In "Churro's Day Out" Fred was watching Yuko Cheerleading Warrior Attack 7 while the Grant-Gomezes were getting their portrait done by Raúl.
